Robert Killins

Robert Killins III, a Tuskegee University alumnus and graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, serves as a Digital Experience Intern at Brown v. Board of Education National Historical Park through the HBCUI Internship Program. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Construction Science and Management from Tuskegee University and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to his internship, Robert developed experience in historic preservation, public history, museums, architecture, archival research, collections care, conservation, and digital storytelling. Through internships and research opportunities with institutions including the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Yale University Art Gallery, and Fisk University Galleries, he gained hands-on experience researching historical materials, caring for collections, supporting conservation efforts, and creating digital content that helps make historical information accessible to broader audiences.

During his internship at Brown v. Board of Education National Historical Park, Robert works alongside National Park Service staff to support digital content development and help connect the public with the history and significance of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision. His work includes historical and archival research, digital content creation, website development, social media, and the use of photographs, oral histories, and other historical resources to create informative and engaging digital experiences.

The internship strengthens Robert’s skills in public history, historical research, digital engagement, interpretation, and storytelling while building upon his academic background in historic preservation and construction science. Through his work, Robert is gaining valuable experience in how the National Park Service uses research, technology, and digital platforms to preserve and share nationally significant history with audiences across the country and around the world.
