2025 HBCUI Intern
BIOGRAPHY
Malachi Morris, a Jackson State University graduate with a degree in Chemistry on the Pre-Medicine track, served as an Interpretation Intern at Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument through the HBCUI Internship Program.
A dedicated scholar, researcher, and campus leader, Malachi maintained a strong academic record while participating in numerous leadership, service, and research initiatives. He served as President of the Delta Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, held leadership roles in the Pre-Health Society and Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, and participated in the W.E.B. Du Bois-Harvey Honors College. His academic and research accomplishments include multiple scientific poster presentations, advanced laboratory research experiences, and acceptance into the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine.
During his internship, Malachi worked alongside National Park Service staff to support educational programming, visitor engagement, and interpretive initiatives at Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument. His responsibilities included assisting with visitor programs, contributing to educational content development, and helping connect visitors with the history and legacy preserved at the site.
Through this experience, Malachi strengthened his communication, public engagement, and educational outreach skills while gaining valuable experience translating complex historical information into meaningful learning opportunities for diverse audiences.

Internship Project
As an Interpretation Intern, Malachi supported educational and visitor engagement efforts at Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument. Working with park staff, he assisted with the development of educational materials, supported interpretive programming, and contributed to projects designed to enhance visitor understanding of the lives and legacy of Medgar and Myrlie Evers.
His work helped support school groups, guided discussions, and public programs that connected visitors to important moments in American history and encouraged reflection on civic leadership, public service, and community engagement.
