BIOGRAPHY
Jaden Franklin, a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a background in Psychology, served as an Education and Interpretation Intern at Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument through the HBCUI Internship Program in 2024.
Throughout his academic and professional journey, Jaden demonstrated a commitment to leadership, mentorship, and community engagement through experiences ranging from youth counseling and entrepreneurship fellowships to serving as a resident advisor.
During his internship, Jaden worked closely with the interpretation team to develop educational programs, conduct historical research, and explore thematic interpretation techniques. His work focused on expanding public understanding of the lives and legacy of Medgar and Myrlie Evers, helping connect visitors with one of the most significant stories of the American Civil Rights Movement.
Jaden also assisted with researching new historical information and developing innovative ways to share these stories with visitors and community audiences. Through his work at the first nationally protected Civil Rights site in Mississippi, he gained valuable experience in public history, education, interpretation, and community engagement.
The internship strengthened Jaden’s interest in using education, technology, and storytelling to inspire, uplift, and positively impact communities.

Poster Presentation – Career & Leadership Workshop in DC
Pictured above, Jaden Franklin presents his internship project during the 2024 HBCUI Career and Leadership Workshop at the Department of the Interior. Through an interactive poster presentation, he shared the educational programming, historical research, and interpretive projects he completed at Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument. His presentation highlighted the importance of preserving Civil Rights history and creating meaningful opportunities for visitors to engage with the legacy of Medgar and Myrlie Evers.
Outstanding Mentor and Supervisor Recognition
The success of Jaden Franklin’s internship experience was supported by Superintendent Keena Graham and Museum Educator Olivia Williams, recipients of the 2024 HBCUI Outstanding Mentor/Supervisor Award. Their leadership, guidance, and commitment to education and interpretation helped provide Jaden with a meaningful and impactful experience at Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument.
