James D. Height Jr. is a 2025 Morehouse College graduate with a B.A. in Religion and a minor in Philosophy. A dedicated researcher and cultural preservationist, he holds the record for the most fieldwork hours in Morehouse history. From 2023 to 2025, he conducted original research across the Lowcountry, focusing on culturally significant sites such as Johns Island, St. Helena Island, and Port Royal.

As a United Nations Youth Delegate, he made history as the first rapper to perform at a global nuclear disarmament conference. He also delivered two separate in-person presentations—without prerecorded media or virtual assistance—at the International Gullah Geechee and African Diaspora (IGGAD) Conference, a historic feat. James co-founded Students for Nuclear Disarmament at Morehouse and in Japan. His goal for this internship is to deepen his impact at the intersection of history, policy, and public storytelling in the local, national and global levels while remaining grounded in a commitment to preserving the heritage, strength, and voices of the Gullah-Geechee people and the broader African Diaspora.
