BIOGRAPHY
Myles Chase, a Baltimore, Maryland native and sophomore at Bowie State University, serves as a Community Engagement Intern with the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail through the HBCUI Internship Program. He is pursuing a degree in Communications with a focus in Print Journalism and brings a strong interest in writing, storytelling, media, and connecting with audiences.
During his internship, Myles works alongside National Park Service staff to support public engagement, historical interpretation, and community outreach connected to the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail and the broader history of the Baltimore region. His work includes engaging with visitors and local communities, supporting interpretive talks and educational programs, contributing to outreach activities and special events, and helping communicate the stories of the people, places, and events associated with the War of 1812 and the history preserved along the trail.
Through the HBCUI Internship Program, Myles is gaining hands-on experience in public speaking, historical interpretation, community engagement, professional communication, and audience-centered storytelling. His background in communications and journalism provides a strong foundation for learning how historical stories can be researched, shaped, and shared in ways that are informative, relevant, and meaningful to diverse audiences.
Myles aspires to build a career in the television and film industry as a screenwriter or line producer. Through his internship with the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail, he is expanding his experience as a storyteller while developing the communication, collaboration, project coordination, and public engagement skills that can support his future work in media and entertainment.

As a Community Engagement Intern, Myles supports public outreach, historical interpretation, and visitor engagement with the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail, helping connect audiences with the people, places, and events associated with the War of 1812 and the history of the Baltimore region. His work includes engaging with visitors and local communities, supporting interpretive talks and educational programs, contributing to outreach activities and special events, and helping share historical stories in ways that are informative, relevant, and meaningful to the public.
