BIOGRAPHY
Morgan Walton, a Miami, Florida native and graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, served as a Communications Intern for the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Internship Program (HBCUI) through the National Park Service in 2024.
Prior to joining HBCUI, Morgan gained experience as a Digital Strategist for a communications firm supporting local political campaigns and community outreach initiatives throughout Florida. Her passion for storytelling, strategic communications, and audience engagement helped prepare her for a role focused on elevating the voices and experiences of HBCUI interns across the country.
During her internship, Morgan supported the HBCUI program’s communications and marketing efforts by managing digital content, assisting with social media strategy, drafting written materials, and helping showcase the work of interns serving at National Park Service sites nationwide. Her responsibilities included creating content for newsletters, blog posts, press releases, targeted communications, and social media platforms. Through these efforts, she helped increase social media engagement and expand awareness of the HBCUI program and its impact.
Morgan also worked directly with interns and National Park Service sites to capture and share stories that highlighted the diverse experiences, projects, and accomplishments of the 2024 cohort. Through her work, she strengthened her skills in communications, marketing, digital strategy, and public relations while helping connect broader audiences to the mission of HBCUI and the National Park Service.
The internship reinforced Morgan’s commitment to authentic storytelling and demonstrated the power of communications to educate, inspire, and build meaningful connections between organizations and the communities they serve.

Poster Presentation – Career & Leadership Workshop in DC

Through social media management, content creation, digital storytelling, and outreach efforts, she helped share the impact of internship projects taking place at National Park Service sites nationwide while increasing visibility for the program and its participants.
